And I do mean small.
-One of us is very pregnant.
-One of us still loves life as a kindergartener.
-One of us is a fast growing fetus.
-One of us loves his spiderman shoes so much he takes them off only to take a bath (and that’s because mommy and daddy make him).
-The last and least of us just drank a diet coke.
At the place where our reliable little car just isn’t able to support the load that we are about to throw at it…a family of FIVE with all the necessary support equipment. We have now entered the world of van-dom. When and how did this happen? I mean, I know how it happened. And I know when. I guess that was a rhetorical, thought provoking question more than an actual question that needs answering.
Anyway, after months and months of scrimping and saving, and deciding and looking at classifieds, well, we found the right van at the right price…and we absolutely love it!! It’s way better than what we thought we would get. Long story short, my aunt from St. George called us a couple Saturday mornings ago and asked if we were still looking around for a van, and that they had some friends that were selling one. After we found out that it was an Odyssey (we had decided long ago that we wanted either that or a Sienna, really didn’t matter which one) with low miles for the year (2004 with 60k) a very good price and the fact that we would know the history, it was a done deal. A couple days later, BriAnne and the kids dropped me off at a scary part of Provo (center street, west side, you know what I’m talking about) where the ‘St. George shuttle’ picked me up for my one way jaunt. Who knew there was a shuttle that does nothing more than run back and forth, mostly old people use it though. I was the only one in the van under 75, including the driver. Anyway, I made it down in a few hours, bought the thing, and drove it back. With automatic doors (push a button on the key fob or just touch the handle) I forsee us getting very lazy on the door opening front. The kids love the built in DVD player of course.
So, I haven’t posted in so long that it took me a few minutes to remember how to get into our account. Sad. Anyway, we do have some exciting things to say about Christmas and New Years, but I’ll save that for later. For months now Ethan has been saying such a funny thing, and he said it again today so I thought it’s time to write about it. He’s incredible with words and conversation – for some reason he’s just picked up on language and numbers - it’s fascinating to see how fast he learns. But there’s one word he just can’t seem to get into his brain…. APRON. My super talented sister in law, Alissa, gave me and Katelyn matching aprons for our birthdays back in August and we wear them quite often when we cook together. Ethan felt left out immediately. One day he said to me, “I want a neighbor. I want to put on a neighbor. Where’s my neighbor?” I was so confused until I put it together that he was referring to an apron. Then I bought him some overalls, and he was so excited to finally have his own neighbor – I tried to explain to him that they weren’t a neighbor or an apron, that they were called overalls. So then he started asking to put on his “overgirls”. Well, close enough I guess. Luckily he was given his own (baseball) apron for Christmas from Grandma Deedee, so now he can skip the overgirls and just put on his neighbor like Mommy and Katelyn. What a laugh.
