I wasn’t successful on the deer hunt this year, but I still had the cow elk hunt to look forward to. So with a lot of looking here:

and a lot of walking in this:

and a lot of looking like this:

I got one of these:

As a result our family will enjoy 174 lbs of some of the leanest, best tasting meat on earth (in my humble opinion). We just made some elk burritos this afternoon after church and they were fantastic, except I forgot to drain the grease out of the burger so it was a little…greasy (beef fat was added to the burger by the meat processor).

I told Clay that he should invite himself over to your house for dinner. And then he said, “Why would I go over there? I have elk over here that I don’t eat.” So, sorry BriAnne, I was trying to help you clear up some freezer space, but apparently I failed.
Congratulations Jon! I hope you have better luck getting rid of it than we’ve had.

Don’t pay any attention to what Lauren wrote, I’d love to come over and eat at your house, on one condition, I SUPPLY THE MEAT. We need room in OUR freezer for all of Lauren’s waffles and the 30 containers of frozen orange juice that she bought on sale.

No need to feel bad that it’s elk. So far we’ve put elk in nearly everything we’ve made for the last two weeks and we like it waaaay better than beef! In fact, we usually have a hard time getting Katelyn and Ethan to eat regular beef and chicken, etc but they have eaten everthing we’ve put elk in (once we convence them to give it a taste first).
