Ok, so BriAnne keeps saying “we need to add a new blog entry” over and over. With some prying I finally found out that she has suddenly become a little self conscious having her “quirks” out there willy nilly in the wide open. “Yes dear” I said like a good husband, “I’ll throw something so wild and crazy out there that no one will even remember that you love the rain, to dance, etc.”
So, does anyone else find that they occasionally wake up hanging halfway off the bed, or have a pain somewhere on their body because they’ve been punched or kicked by some unsuspecting visitor(s) in the night? As fun and cute as our kids are, I’ve got to say that one way to insure a rough night’s sleep is by letting one of them sleep in our bed. Sometimes it’s because they are sick, or scared, or just can’t sleep. Katelyn’s been known to just sneak in between us without us even knowing she’s there until either BriAnne wakes up teetering on the edge of the mattress, or until BAM! I’ve been kicked SQUARELY in the nether region. I’ll be darned though if they (the kids!) don’t sleep extremely well under these circumstances. Last night little Ethan wasn’t sleeping well (nay, was screaming his cute little guts out) starting about midnight, then 1am, then 1:30 then 2:00 etc. until finally we decided to just bring him in our room so at least Katelyn could sleep. It wasn’t quite as bad as it has been in the past, but I did find myself waking up a few times the rest of the night with either a leg hanging off the bed or my face halfway onto my nightstand. BriAnne was on the very edge on her side and that sweet little Ethan was sprawled out, just as comfy as can be sleeping like a….baby. Even Ethan’s “puppy” (favorite stuffed animal) had more room on the bed than we did, no kidding. Well, I guess we can just be grateful he allowed BriAnne and I to have a couple inches of bed each, right on the edges because he certainly could have taken the whole thing if he wanted to. Thanks buddy!

Hahahah! We know how that is! We’ve actually been complaining about it a lot these last couple of days. The latest thing is Kayden will put his hands on my face and hug me which I thought was cute at first, but when I turned my head, he yanked it back so that I was facing him! He wouldn’t let me turn! We are so sick of our kids coming into our bed!

Amen, and amen!
With empathy,
Carter
I think that the story was slightly more entertaining than Carter, because Dylan tends to always roll up against Carter and not me. Carter is pushed off to the side and Dylan is right in the middle of Carter’s pillow sleeping away. We don’t know why he always picks Carter and not me, but I am not complaining.

I don’t know why it’s funny to read these kind of things. If Amy was doing that to us, I wouldn’t think it was funny. But somehow hearing you tell it, I laughed like crazy. I find that is the case with lots of crazy small kids stories. It’s the worst if it happens to you, but it sure is funny hearing from someone else (like when a baby boy pees all over his daddy changing his diaper or something.) The other thing that makes me crazy about having a baby in bed is how paranoid that she’ll fall off. Sometimes Amy is on the edge from nursing in bed (our morning ritual) and falls asleep there. I don’t want to move her and wake her up for the day. But I can’t sleep with her that close to the edge of the bed. And I can’t go anywhere. So, oh darn, I have to just stay in bed and read. Ok, so that part of it isn’t so bad. Anyway, sorry to poor little Ethan.

Oh the good ol days… I remember them vividly! All three of the girls used to ONLY sleep in bed with us. I used to ask Chris why we even bothered waisting money on their beds. But Faze is our dream child when it comes to bedtime….so for you I say, this too shall pass. Good luck though, I remember many a night sleeping on the couch because I had been kicked out of my bed!

Same with BriAnne – I forgot to mention that she has given up on many occasions and moved out to the couch where she slept ALOT better. I on the otherhand refuse to give up my territory (while I’m conscious anyway) even if it means doing a balancing act to stay on the bed. That may change if I finally ever lose the battle with gravity

Dear little Jonna,
They do grow up and one day you might miss being kicked in the kidneys or the face. (yes I said the face, some children have no sense of direction.)

I don’t know if it will make much of a difference, but that is one reason why I INSISTED that we get a king-sized bed. I simply wouldn’t settle for anything less. I’ll let you know in a couple of years if it’s paid off.

Isn’t it the weirdest thing. It is so true that the minute they are in your bed, they sleep like babies. Our kids do the same thing. Well, when I let them. Usually they fall asleep and then I carry them back to there beds when they have sufficiently taken up all the space. Good luck and it was great to see you this past week.
We love you guys!

Well, I remember all you kids were really good to stay in your beds….maybe we were too mean about it…do you remember Jon? I do, however, remember Roxanne with her long legs all over me when we slept in the same bed as kids. I remember almost chocking one night…do you remember, Roxanne….no she couldn’t have. She slept like a rock every night. Maybe that’s why I wouldn’t let you kids sleep with us……Love, Mom
