Quirk #1: Dancing
When I hear good music, I have to dance.  My body doesn’t know how to listen and not move.  I can’t hold still listening to music like Enya, or most songs with a great beat… I just can’t help myself!  If I’m somewhere that I can’t get up and move (with out making a huge fool of myself) I still have to move something, even if it’s just tapping my toes inside my shoes!  I love to dance in my living room with the kids – who also love it, but I enjoy it when I’m alone too… Jon has caught me ”twirling” in the living room late at night to music in my head, I had a hard time explaining my way out of that one, he was ready to commit me!
Quirk #2: Rain
The little girl inside of me gets really giddy every time it rains – like seriously giddy – like Christmas Eve kind of giddy!  I love it!  I love when it looks like rain, when it smells like rain, when it’s cloudy or overcast, I feel like it’s Heavenly Father sending a secret message to me telling me He loves me and that I’m special!
Quirk #3: Cleaning
I get an immense amount of satisfaction from cleaning.  In particular vacuuming and doing the dishes!  They are definitely two of the most fulfilling things I do on a daily basis (outside of caring for my sweeties & doing spiritual stuff).  My house right now is little enough that I can vacuum the entire thing in about ten minutes (and that’s a good, thorough job) so I often do it more than once a day.  My kids also enjoy when I vacuum, because they enjoy running from the “monster.”  Well actually, Ethan likes to sit in front of the monster, but whatever!
Quirk #4: Reading
I love to read and I get a huge kick out of finding a great novel, stealing away a bit of quiet time for myself, getting really comfy on the couch, and “running away” with my book for a spell.  I get the same kick out of good movies and it’s wonderful that Katelyn – starting at about age 2 1/2 – enjoys the same movies that I do… such as the six hour version of Pride and Prejudice, and every other version of Pride and Prejudice as well as many other wonderful chick flicks out there!  Now I just can’t wait for her to love to read novels with me, I’m holding off reading Harry Potter until she’s able to understand as I read it to her, and I think it can’t be too long now!  Wahoo!!
Quirk #5:  Memory
My memory plays tricks on me.  Or at least it seems to.  I guess I could just call it a very selective memory.  I seem to be able to remember random phone numbers when I can’t remember what I did yesterday.  I can remember the order of the planets that I learned in fourth grade, but I can’t remember what I just went into the bedroom for.  I can’t remember what I had for dinner last night, or what I just told you not to let me forget, but I can remember how to say “I love you” in French, Spanish, Chinese and Sign Language!
Quirk #6:  Age
I’m not as old as I am.  I turned 26 on the 16th of August.  Now, 26 is not old, in fact, 26 is very young.  But I am not really 26.  When I meet a new couple in the ward and she tells me she’s 21 I think, “oh, me too!”  When I watch the Olympics and see a 19 year old athlete I think “wow, she’s the same age as me!”  When my young women talk about their upcoming big 15th birthday parties I think, “yay, I can’t wait for you to be 15 too!”  I really have to think to figure out exactly how old I am… and each time I do the math and come up with the correct number, that’s really all it is, just a number.  I am not as old as I am, I’m really just as old as I feel!
