With the excitement of the holidays quicky coming upon us, it’s easy to see Thanksgiving as a mere speedbump on our way to Christmas, and to be honest that’s still sort of what it is to me but of course BriAnne doesn’t feel that way. She loves what it stands for, etc, etc. I’m glad one of us keeps the rest of us on track! Our Thanksgiving was actually pushed from Thursday to Saturday since it was a McArthur year and it just worked out best for everyone to be there on the actual weekend. BriAnne and the kids still went out to Tooele on Thursday late afternoon but I stayed home since I had planned a coyote hunting excursion with Clayton very early Friday morning and then I headed out to Tooele Friday afternoon.  Hunting was a blast for me although we were unable to call anything in. We did bring our .22′s along and successfully threw lead at some suspecting jackrabbits. We had a great time as a family out with my in-laws and everyone was there except Jordan and Chelsea who are in medical school in St. Louis. We enjoyed a bounteous feast, watched the BYU game, rented some movies and played games. Unfortunately, a flu bug also joined the party and systematically interjected itself into each of the kids (the adults were mostly unaffected).  Poor Katelyn and Ethan threw up many times and it made for an adventurous drive home with BriAnne in the back moving the throw-up bowl from one kid to the other like a champ. We made it home fine and today the kids are much better although still not 100%.

Our family had a great Halloween! Dressing up at work was a mandatory affair, so I decided to be my friend and co-worker Mitch Labrum for the day. Mitch broke his neck last week in a football game and has been out of the office recovering ever since. So I thought It most appropriate that I don a neck brace (which I cleverly crafted using the piece of foam that Ethan lays on when he takes a bath, and an ace bandage) and carry around a bottle of “Mitch-strength” faux Lortab. It was fun and I walked away from the day with a new appreciation of Mitch having to wear that thing for weeks instead of hours, poor guy! He’s in good spirits and has even come into the office for a few hours over the last couple days.
After work I headed home to pick up BriAnne and the kids and off to fun Halloween festivities we went! We stopped in to see Grandma Wadley for a few minutes and then went to the trunk-or-treat that was held by my parent’s ward in Pleasant Grove. That was fun! We put Ethan in a little hot pepper outfit and Katelyn was a Barbie princess. BriAnne went as a hard working pretty mom and was the most convincing of any of us! We hope you had a great Halloween too!

Just a quick deer hunting follow-up: I decided last Wednesday and Thursday that I wasn’t going to let this hunt go by without getting something, so I drove up Provo Canyon11-1-07-265.jpg right after work and on Thursday shot a two point – and this one didn’t get away! Dad came up and helped me drag it about 1/2 mile and now I have months of excellent deer jerky to look forward to! A big thanks to Clayton who told me some good spots to go, it was his suggestion that I try the place where I ultimately took the deer.
