Well, as it always does the yearly deer hunt came and went all too quickly. Last Wednesday and Thursday I along with Dad, Dave, Mckay, uncle Steve and cousin Ryan made the sojourn up to our regular camping spot off Indian Creek near Strawberry Reservoir. Activities consisted of cooking and eating the usual five star meals (steak, shrimp, tri-tip tacos, etc, etc) , nightly movies on the projection big screen in the big tent and of course trudging along the hills along Squaw Creek in pursuit of those elusive bucks. This year was a little different in that Mckay decided to pull his new (to him) 31 foot Airstream trailer up there. We weren’t sure how he was going to get it up into the camp spot which involves tight turns and really crappy, muddy roads but he pulled it off. As far as the actual hunting went – well, I was and wasn’t successful. I was successful in that I saw, shot and hit a two point buck but was unsuccessful in tracking it after the hit. I probably tracked that thing for 4 miles and he seemed to be still going strong when I lost his trail. Oh well, the hunt doesn’t end until this Saturday so I will see if I can’t sneak up Provo or Hobble Creek canyon to see what I can scare up. No one else in the party was able to even get a shot off.  I guess there’s always next year! In the end though, taking a week off work to spend time in nature and with the boys in the fam is what we all look forward to, a filled tag would just be icing on the cake :-) Here are some pics of the hunt. There are also a couple pics from when I went elk hunting with my friend Clayton a week before the deer hunt began. Enjoy!
